CSC Scholarship 2026: Full Guide for African Students

 The Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) is one of the largest fully funded scholarship programs in the world.

• 289 designated universities

• ~20% overall acceptance rate

• Master's stipend: CNY 3,000/month

• PhD stipend: CNY 3,500/month

What Makes CSC Different:

It's not one application. It's multiple sub-programs, each with different deadlines, requirements, and selection criteria.

The Two Main Routes:

Type A (Bilateral Program) — Apply through your home country's Chinese Embassy. This is the most competitive but also the most generous route. Includes international travel expenses.

Type B (University Program) — Apply directly to a Chinese university. Less competitive, but typically does NOT include a monthly stipend from CSC — you get tuition waiver and accommodation only.

Most applicants assume Type B includes a stipend. It usually does not.
