How to Study in the USA for Free in 2026 (For African Students)

  The USA has some of the most generous scholarships in the world for African students. Two of the biggest: 1. Fulbright Foreign Student Program Covers: Full tuition + living + flights + health insurance Level: Master's / PhD Eligibility: All African countries Deadline: Varies by US Embassy (typically Feb–May) 2. Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Covers: Full tuition + living + travel + laptop + stipend Level: UG / Graduate Eligibility: Sub-Saharan Africa (select countries) Deadline: Varies by university (Nov–Jan) Both programs are fully funded. But here's what most African students don't know: Fulbright isn't one application. It's multiple — one per country. Each US Embassy runs its own competition.
