CSC Type A vs Type B: Which Is Better for African Students?

 Two routes into the Chinese Government Scholarship. But they work very differently.

Type A (Embassy/Bilateral Program)

• Apply through: Your country's Chinese Embassy

• Coverage: Full tuition + accommodation + stipend + insurance + international travel

• Deadline: November–April (varies by country)

• Competition: Higher (country quotas apply)

• Best for: Students who want full funding including travel

Type B (University Program)

• Apply through: A Chinese university directly

• Coverage: Full tuition + accommodation. Stipend usually NOT included — you must fund your own living expenses unless the university adds its own stipend

• Deadline: Varies by university (January–June)

• Competition: Lower

• Best for: Students who already have a university/professor connection
