How One African Student Won CSC (And What He Did Differently)

One African student applied for CSC. He got in. Full tuition, monthly stipend, accommodation, health insurance.

Here's what he did differently:

His Profile:

• Country: Nigeria

• Level: Master's

• Program: Engineering

• GPA: 3.5

What He Did:

1. Applied through Type A (Embassy route) for full funding

2. Got a pre-admission letter from a Chinese professor before applying

3. Wrote a specific study plan (not generic — focused on a real Nigerian infrastructure challenge)

4. Applied to 3 universities — 2 mid-tier, 1 top-tier

5. Started 10 weeks before deadline

What Most Students Get Wrong:

• They apply to Tsinghua/Peking only (10% acceptance rate)

• They write vague study plans (the #1 reason for rejection)

• They don't get a pre-admission letter (huge advantage)

• They start 2 weeks before deadline
