Is Türkiye Bursları Hard to Get? (Honest Answer for African Students)

"Is Türkiye Bursları hard to get?"

Honest answer: Yes. 2-5% acceptance rate. 250,000+ applicants for ~5,000 spots.

The Hard Truth:

• Nigeria gets ~12 spots per year

• Egypt gets ~40

• Somalia gets more (historical ties)

• Competition varies by country quota

Why Most Applicants Fail:

1. Generic motivation letters

2. Not researching university choices

3. Weak interview performance

4. Missing document deadlines

5. Not understanding the language course requirement

Why Some Win:

1. Specific, personal motivation letters

2. GPAs 10-15% above minimum

3. Clear "return home" plan

4. Strong interview performance

5. Strategic university selection (mixing cities)

One More Thing:

The monthly stipend (4,500 TL) is about $107/month at current exchange rates. It doesn't cover everything. Many scholars rely on family support or find informal work.
